Ken Berger Provides Testimony to Congress on "The Combined Federal Campaign: Making Every Dollar Count"

On July 10, 2013, the House Committee of Oversight and Government Reform’s Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, U.S. Postal Service and the Census held a hearing titled, “The Combined Federal Campaign: Making Every Dollar Count.” Charity Navigator's own Ken Berger, who was a member of the CFC-50 Commission which was established to review the CFC and determine what if any changes should be made to ensure its continued success, was among the witnesses. His testimony starts around 40 minutes into the video below.

It was inspiring to hear Mr. Berger advocating for federal donors, nonprofits, big and small, and, significantly, the most effective use of each charitable dollar raised so that each nonprofit benefits the greatest number of its intended beneficiaries.

I hope Mr. Berger's comments are taken to heart and implemented. No doubt CFC, and the rest of us, would be greatly benefitted if as Mr. Berger suggests there were a working group promoting continuous dialogue between federal donors and OPM and if OPM used appropriate pilot programs to test unproven ideas before full implementation.

If this is not the case already, it would also be a step forward if the list of nonprofit organizations CFC federal donors receive contained Charity Navigator ratings and a recommendation to research the entity in Charity Navigator's site.

Thank you for making me aware of this issue.
