A major reason why the non-profit sector is so chaotic and murky is precisely because of the difficulty in quantitatively and objectively evaluating such nebulous ideas as transparency, accountability, and efficacy.

So how, then, will Charity Navigator rate organizations for effectiveness? What mechanisms will be used to ensure transparency? How will charitable organizations be held accountable and how do you intend on measuring and communicating this in a broadly comparable way?

I'm excited by these new developments and encouraged that the non-profit sector is moving out of the dark ages, with your help. My organization would very much like to be the pinnacle of efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability, and we would appreciate anything that Charity Navigator can do to shine a light on these crucial facets of social aid.

Anonymous,
